We mediated this effect through a narrative video, which is a video centered around a story. The control videos contained images and information about the same topic: women\u2019s image in the media. In our study we hypothesized that engagement will be the highest in the group watching the narrative video, and the narrative video will have the strongest effects on the (female) participant\u2019s attitudes, body image and self-esteem. According to our results participants in the narrative video group showed the highest scores on the narrative engagement scale, furthermore, these scores correlate with attitudes towards the videos. However, our results concerning the psychological effect of narrative engagement were mixed. We found significant alterations in self-esteem and body image after watching the respective videos, albeit the difference between the three videos didn\u2019t entirely occur as expected.
